Homework Club & Maths tutoring

In 2010 Dominic College started up a Homework and Computer Club. Each lunchtime computer rooms for both Primary and Secondary students will be open for students to use. Teaching and non-teaching staff have been very generous in offering their time to supervise this program.

Students are welcome to drop in after they have eaten lunch, offering a great chance to catch up on, or get a head start, on their homework. Primary students are welcome to spend some more time on their favourite software title once a week, conducting research or working through an educational game.

Students use the Computer club for a variety of reasons – research for class assignments, use educational programs, create slideshows, practise computer skills, etc. The response from students has been overwhelming so far.

Maths tutoring

In 2010 Dominic College introduced Maths tutoring after school, along with setting homework tasks using a Maths online program.

The opportunities for using Maths Online will be even greater now that the laptop program has been introduced to the Year 7s in 2012, and will continue to strengthen when all Dominic secondary students have laptops by 2015.

Year 5 students have just started using a program called Mathletics, which is an online program that teaches Maths in an exciting and engaging way.

It’s all part of the quest to increase the academic rigour of our students so that we’re in line with national standards.
