Annual Awards Ceremony success

There was so much talent and good will on display at the annual end-of-year Dominic College Year 6-10 Awards ceremony in the Savio Centre on Friday 25 November.

Students and staff, family and friends, plus local community and special guests, witnessed a remarkable group of students congratulated for their academic results, their school and community leadership, their creative talent and their service and big hearts.

This was the final assembly for Year 10 students, whose leaders passed on the symbols of the College to the incoming 2017 captains and vice captains during the proceedings. Year 10s were sent off by their younger peers in style.

Awards were presented to the outstanding students in each subject and year level, plus overall achievement awards, for the best academic achievements in each year level.

Awards were presented by College supporters such as The Hon Elise Archer, Speaker of the House, and Mr Andrew Wilkie, Federal Member for Denison, and Mayor of Glenorchy, Ms Kristie Johnston, plus representatives of other local politicians. Fr Lawrie Moate presented Religious Education Awards, and old scholar Tony Webb, Creative Arts Awards. Old scholar, Tony Cerritelli presented the Cerritelli Family Award.

Over 90 students received awards, a credit to the widespread academic improvement at the College. Outstanding results included multiple award winners Sona Sojan, Mikaela Cruz, Max Brideson, Lily Newell, Laura Whittaker, Kelsea Cano Calderon, Max Brideson, John Harry and Eloise Kerstan. Full marks to staff, whose colourful academic dress added a respectful and learned aspect to proceedings. And what a performance we enjoyed by our Titanium-singing swinging stars!
