Death of Fr Mark McGuinness MSC

Vale – Fr Mark McGuinness MSC

Dominic College received news this week of the death of Fr Mark McGuinness MSC.

Fr Mark attended Savio and then Dominic from 1969-1976. He had been diagnosed early this year with inoperable cancer. Mark attended primary school at St Therese’s Moonah and then completed his secondary education at Dominic College.

He studied to be an accountant whilst working for the Hydro Electric Commission. In 1986, he commenced his studies for the priesthood. Mark was ordained at St Therese’s Church Moonah on 1 July 1994.

Following his ordination, Mark was appointed to the Northern Territory where he was Parish Priest until 1999. He then served the people of Port Keats, the East Coast of Tasmania, Henley Beach, Adelaide, Hamilton, Victoria and returned to the Northern Territory in 2015 to serve the people of Katherine. Sadly, this was to be his last Parish.

We give thanks for Mark’s life of service to others. We pray for his mum Goldie, and his five brothers and three sisters who mourn his passing. May God comfort them in their sorrow and welcome Mark home to heaven.
