Message from the Principal

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,

I am writing to firstly thank all of you for your wonderful messages of loving support and kindness during my management of breast cancer. The surgery and chemotherapy treatment have proceeded well and I have been especially so grateful for your ongoing prayers. It is hoped that my treatment will be generally finalised by the end of Term 2 break and all going as anticipated, I can return to the College in Term 3.

I am particularly grateful to Mrs Janine O’Hea who has and will continue to undertake the role of Acting Principal of Dominic College until my return. She is doing an outstanding job in ensuring the College continues in its ongoing work and is very ably moving forward all of our planned endeavours.

However, I wanted to inform you that processes for Mrs O’Hea’s planned retirement as Deputy Principal of Dominic at the end of this year have continued. After decades of outstanding and loyal service to Catholic Education Tasmania, with the last 10 years served at Dominic, Mrs O’Hea will bring her work to conclusion this December.

This weekend, the College will advertise our Deputy Principal position for commencement in 2018.

One other staff retirement which we are also planning for at the end of 2017, is the retirement of Mr Paul Williams. Mr Williams has held a number of important roles at the College and is currently our 7-10 Daily Organiser. We will also advertise Mr Williams’ position in due course. All in our community will have the opportunity to farewell Mrs O’Hea and Mr Williams at the end of the year.

Ms Beth Gilligan - College Principal
