Olympic Opening Cermony

NEWSFLASH – World First Olympic Games Opening Ceremony!

The ancients of Olympia were seen in 6A last week!

On Friday 5 August the age0old tradition of the Rock, Paper, Scissors competition began the ceremony for the prestigious honour of Torchbearer. The Olympians processed around the K-4 area passing on the torch to assembled groups and then headed back over to their main gathering space.

Rooms 12, 13 and 14 were traversed before the ceremonial torch was hoisted into place where it will remain until the games are over. It’s not the first time that historical visitors have been spotted at Dominic College appearing in the room 15!

Onlookers were taken by surprise but welcomed the Olympians as the Opening Ceremony Procession marked the World’s first to the games of 2016. You can see some more photos on our gallery: Olympics.
