Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday

The word shrove is a form of the English word shrive, which means to obtain absolution for one’s sins. Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the custom for Christians to be “shriven” before the start of Lent.

On this day the tradition is to eat pancakes – to feast on something rich and delicious before practising self-denial and fasting during the 40 days of Lent.

In the K-6, there were many smiling faces at the pancake stall.

The proceeds from the pancake sale were a record $522.95, all of which is donated to our sister Salesian school in Samoa.

Thank you to the student leaders, staff and volunteers for all your help.
