News: P&F Twilight Fair a great success
Posted by: mtaylor on Wednesday, April 08, 2009 - 03:43 PM

Anyone who came along to Parents and Friends Twilight Fair last Thursday night would have to agree that it was a great success in more ways than one!

At least over 1,000 people came through the Dominic gates to join in the fun and frivolity of the various Sideshow Alley activities, enjoy a tasty treat or two and grab a bargain. We were pleased to see so many new faces from outside of the Dominic community in addition to well known past and present Dominic parents and students.

Over $15,000 (and still counting) was raised on the night which will go directly back into the school to benefit students. The exact projects which will benefit from the money raised are yet to be determined, but the P&F have already been fielding lots of suggestions!

Thank you to all the staff and students who helped out on the day, the record number of parent volunteers and the generous businesses who donated prizes and goods. Of course, the biggest thank you of all goes to the magical P&F! In particular, the P&F President, Tricia Di Carlo, and Fair Coordinators Cindy Gallahar and Gaynor Mullen – Thank you.

Twilight Fair

We had fine weather and a large crowd for our annual Twilight Fair on Thursday 9 November. It was terrific to see so many current families and friends, Old Scholars and new families for the 2007 school year in attendance, highlighting that we are truly community spirited.

Thank you to all the students, parents, grandparents and friends of the College who donated items, baked cakes, organised terrific stalls and spent their money at our fair. Thanks also to the small group of volunteers who worked tirelessly on the day with setting and packing up and manned the stalls from start to finish.

The bills are in and expenses paid and this year the College has made a profit of approximately $12,000 - an increase of $4,000 on last year!

So what exactly is the Parents & Friends Committee going to do with all that money? $8,000 has been given to the College to assist with much needed refurbishment of the Secondary Campus and $3,500 has been donated to the Chapel Fundraising Campaign, with the purchase of the Processional Cross and Stand made on the Parents & Friends Committee’s behalf. In addition, 10 new trestle tables have been purchased for use at College and fundraising events.
