Cross Country at Dominic

This week we are holding our K-2 and Year 3-6 Cross Country events. Parents and carers are always encouraged to try to drop in if they can. Our students love to see their parents at these College events.

On last Friday we held our Year 7-10 Cross Country. It was a fantastic afternoon for everyone present. At our carnivals, the importance of participation in community by all students is emphasized. These days facilitate school spirit, a sense of belonging, friendships and a sense of service to one’s House through participation.

Last Friday, those students who were especially cheered on the most by their Houses were those who had to dig deep to complete their race. We are proud of such students for their perseverance and commitment, especially those who come in the tail end.

The development of grit is one of the character strengths we promote through our EMPOWER program and our Cross Country events are opportunities, especially for our senior students, to put themselves to the test.

The winning House on such occasions is most often the House that can field the most participants. Congratulations this year to Bosco House for their overall win in the Year 7-10 section of our three carnivals.

There is a great atmosphere at our Carnivals and our students love the time together. We are delighted if parents and grandparents can join us.
