Building Skills, Building Community
Our 2025 VET Construction students have left a lasting legacy at Dominic College, with twelve students working in groups of three to construct four high-quality picnic tables. The project was made possible through generous funds donated by the Year 10 class of 2022, providing students with an authentic opportunity to develop their construction skills while creating something for the wider College community.
Throughout the project, students demonstrated teamwork, communication, accurate measuring and marking, safe use of hand and power tools, cutting, drilling, assembling and finishing techniques. They also developed their problem-solving skills and learned the importance of precision, patience and working collaboratively to achieve a quality result.
The completed picnic tables are now proudly displayed outside the Savio Centre, providing a practical space for students and staff to enjoy.
We are extremely proud of the students’ hard work, commitment and achievement, and it is fantastic to see their skills and efforts continuing to benefit our College community. Thanks to Br Barry Parker, Carrisa Wells, Brad Parkin, Rocco Mangione and Patrick Meagher for their guidance and support of the students as they completed this task.
