Strategic Moves in Chess Club
Chess Club has been buzzing with enthusiasm this term as students from Years 3–6 meet each Wednesday during Break 1 to build their skills. Jonty from Black Square Chess continues to bring expert guidance and plenty of energy to each session.
Students have been developing their understanding of key strategies—most recently learning the important defensive technique of castling. This move, which helps protect the king and activate the rook, has quickly become a favourite as players practise incorporating it into their game plans.
Alongside new techniques, students enjoy friendly matches that build confidence, concentration, and sportsmanship. Whether beginners or experienced players, everyone is supported to think critically and challenge themselves.
We look forward to seeing their strategic thinking grow as the year progresses.
