Year 6 Canberra Trip 2025
In the final week of Term 3, our incredible Year 6 students participated in an action packed adventure to Canberra, and it was nothing short of amazing. From hands-on science to powerful moments of reflection, this camp was a whirlwind of learning, laughter, and unforgettable experiences.
Thanks to the generous support of the Australian Government’s PACER Program, each student received $300 in funding to help make this Civics and Citizenship journey possible. This trip wasn’t just a camp, it was a deep dive into the heart of our nation’s identity.
Here’s a snapshot of the epic itinerary:
• National Film and Sound Archives – where students explored Australia’s rich audiovisual history
• National Gallery of Australia – featuring stunning First Nations Art that sparked meaningful conversations
• Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) – with a behind-the-scenes tour and the high-energy Sportex experience
• Questacon – science, tech, and plenty of “Whoa!” moments
• High Court of Australia – stepping into the world of justice and law
• Electoral Education Centre (EEC) – learning how every vote counts
• Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House (MOAD) – walking through history
• Royal Australian Mint – discovering how coins are made (and spotting some rare ones!)
• Embassy Drive – a glimpse into Australia’s global connections
• Canberra Rotary Peace Bell – ringing in messages of hope and harmony
• Australian War Memorial – a moving tribute to those who served
• National Capital Exhibition – exploring how Canberra came to be
• Mt Ainslie Lookout – breathtaking views and photo opportunities galore
• Canberra International Sports & Aquatic Centre – a splash-tastic night swim to top it all off!
From start to finish, our students showed curiosity, teamwork, and a whole lot of spirit. Whether they were debating in mock parliament, diving into science experiments, or reflecting at the War Memorial, they embraced every moment with enthusiasm and maturity.
Canberra 2025 was more than just a school trip, it was a celebration of learning, leadership, and the incredible potential of our young citizens.
