Shining a Light on Our Teachers
On Friday 30 October, Australia celebrates World Teachers’ Day 2026, an opportunity to recognise the extraordinary contribution teachers make to the lives of children and young people. This year’s theme, “Shine a light”, celebrates the many ways teachers inspire, support and empower their students, from those wonderful “lightbulb moments” of learning to quietly helping a young person discover their strengths and find their way.
At Dominic College, this theme resonates deeply with our Salesian approach to education. Our teachers do so much more than teach. Through their presence, encouragement, care and commitment, they accompany our young people each day, helping them to learn, grow and become the people they are called to be.
As Principal, I am enormously grateful for the dedication of our teachers and staff. I see every day the energy, professionalism and generosity they bring to their work, and the countless ways they make a difference, often in moments that may seem small but can have a lasting impact on a young person.
On World Teachers’ Day, I simply want to say thank you. Thank you for your commitment to our students, for the care you show them and their families, and for the way you bring the Salesian spirit to life through your work.
Today, we shine a light on our teachers and staff and celebrate all that they give to our young people and to our Dominic College community.
