Dominic College Fair 2017

Our annual Community Fair was held last Friday and even though the weather forecast predicted thunderstorms, constant rain and hail, the whole school community still turned out in droves to support the event and the day was a great success.

We had a great mix of old favourites like lucky jars, showbags, chocolate wheel, snow cones and fairy floss as well as some new entertainment and food stalls including Blazer mini jeeps, Fishcare, Aldi Mini Roos, hot dogs, popcorn and badge making.

The Animal Husbandry Petting Zoo was very popular and a fabulous opportunity for Jane Myers and her students to showcase their diverse range of animals.

The addition of a trailer as first prize on the Fair raffle was a fabulous idea by the Committee and resulted in our most profitable Fair Raffle in recent years.

Congratulations to recent old scholar, Josh Guy, who won first prize in the raffle! It was very exciting to see him drive his P plate car down to the Savio Centre to drive away his trailer full of goodies. All raffle and silent auction winners have been listed on our Fair Facebook page.

Thank you to the Property Team for all their hard work with both set up and pack up on Fair Day and to all the volunteers, teachers, office staff and students who did a tremendous job running their class/home room stalls, food stalls and generally helping out when needed. Everyone did an amazing job, especially with the weather so unpredictable.

Thanks to all parents who volunteered their time at this year’s Fair - all your names have been entered into the draw (once for every hour donated) to win $300 off next year’s school fees. Details of the winner will be announced soon.

Finally a massive thank you goes out to all Fair Committee members for all their hard work, commitment and support. I am amazed that our small group of five members - Anne, Sharyn, Christine, Pam and myself can keep making each year’s Fair bigger and better than the last. Awesome job ladies!
