Kinder teachers and kinder animals

​Our three Kinder Classrooms have been named after three native animals for 2019. We have been authorised to use the actual palawa kani names. palawa kani is the language of the Tasmanian Aborigines. We believe this will signify the growth and acceptance of palawa kani in Tasmania, affirm the role language plays in sustaining culture, and celebrate one of the world's oldest cultures.

Getting ready for VET Hospitality at Dominic College

​Dominic College is offering an exciting new elective course for Year 10 students who are interested in entering the Hospitality industry. SIT10216 Certificate I in Hospitality will offer Dominic College students real life exposure to the Hospitality industry by providing foundational technical kitchen skills, including learning to prepare dishes and how to properly maintain a kitchen.

K-6 facilities developments

The improvement and expansion of Dominic College’s K-6 has been identified as a strategic priority. The K-6 buildings are now 14 years old and in need of expansion and refurbishment. The classrooms were originally built to accommodate a 1.5 stream primary which resulted in the need to build four classrooms near the oval (Years 5 and 6).

2019 Creative Arts Scholarships awarded

Each year Dominic College offers a limited number of Creative Arts Scholarships into Year 7 in the areas of Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Art and this year we received many exceptional applications.

DELC Holiday Program

​Dominic Early Learning Centre, run by Discovery, held their big Christmas party last Friday, and the community enjoyed our oval, facility, tents and barbecues as well as some fabulous entertainment in jumping castles, face painting and Santa.

Robotic Club end-of-year wrap

We held our last Robotics Club meeting for 2018 after school last Friday afternoon 7 December. We always finish off with a party where everyone brings some party food to share and Mrs Kinne supplies the drinks.

Launch into Learning concluded for 2018 last week. Thank you to all the wonderful families that have come along this year and supported the program. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching the children participate eagerly in the activities.

P&F News: Program for 2019

​The P&F has finished off the year strongly with our final meeting held on Wednesday 21 November and our Christmas Dinner held on Friday 23 November. It was great to look back over the year and celebrate our achievements as a group. We are excited for next year and the upcoming AGM which will be held at our first meeting of 2019 - Wednesday 27 February 2019.

Year 7 2019 Orientation

On 14 November, the whole Year 9 cohort were involved in the Year 7 orientations for next year. The day consisted of multiple activities in which our Year 9 students worked with the new Year 7 students including: a pastoral group session, a tour of the school, an amazing race and a shared lunch.
