Parents & Friends News

It has been a very busy month for the P&F with members involved in many school and community activities.

In conjunction with the Clark and Franklin Footy & Netball day, the P&F held an after school BBQ for all students and families on Wednesday 18 September. It was a very successful venture due to the beautiful Spring weather and many hungry kids.

We sold sausages in bread, drinks and lollipops. Thank you to our wonderful P&F volunteers: Sharyn M, Sharon C, Kirsty, Hayley and Sam Bradley for helping set up and run the BBQ. A big thank you also goes out to the following students who donated their time to help when the rush was on: Kyan, Priyannika, Yiannis, Arthur, Aidan, Olivia and Melanie.

Thankyou to Sharyn M & Sharon C, Hayley, Amberley and kids who stayed around from 4pm - 5.30pm to help hand out the sausages and drinks to the Footy & Netball players when their games had finished.

On Thursday evening 19 September, P&F members volunteered their time to run the Canteen pre-show and during the interval at the annual Music & Dance Showcase held at GYC.

Thank you to Karen, Jo, Pam, Christine and Lyn for running the evening so smoothly. Heartfelt thanks to Amanda Page for organising, setting up and running the evening so that myself and other P&F members could watch our children perform in the Showcase. I am extremely grateful to everyone who helped out.

Community Fair - Friday 8 November 2019 3.30-7.00pm

Raffle books for our major Raffle have been sent home this week for K-6 students and will be posted out for Year 7-10 by next week. We have amazing prizes this year, so please support the Fair and the businesses who have generously donated by buying a book. Tickets are $2 each and prizes are worth over $3000.

Once again we have the King’s Trailer full of goodies as first prize in the raffle and as a result are on the lookout for some extra goodies to help fill the space. If your family or business can donate new non-perishable food items, toys, games, hardware, gardening tools, sporting equipment or any other items, please contact Nicola on 0437 195 566 or drop them into any of the school offices.

A massive thank you goes out to Sharyn Majchrzak for helping print out and bundle up hundreds of raffle books to be sent out. We really appreciate the tremendous effort put in by yourself and your workmates at Mark Media to have a fast turnaround. Well done!

We have most of the old favourite food and entertainment locked in for this year including the Gee Whizzer, Jumping Castle, Chocolate Wheel, Silent Auction, Wellington Fire Truck, Aldi Mini Roos, Cake Stall, Hot Chips, Rotary Sausage Sizzle and Cam’s Curries which are always very popular and are now classed as essential for Fair Day.

We have also bought back stalls that were new last year due to their success including Hot Roast Rolls, Toffee Apples, Wine Lucky Dip and Tornado Potatoes. We also hope to have The Sands Family return with their Crazy Bikes.

New additions this year include professional face painters, Fishcare, Zorb Balls, Tommy Choo Choo Train, Glenorchy Jnr Footy Club, Glenorchy Scouts, Tas Pop and a Photobooth.

So much to see and do and a great afternoon is had by all who attend, so mark the date in your diary and come along.

Fair Volunteer forms will be emailed out over the holidays so if you can spare an hour or two on Fair day either setting up or manning a stall it would be greatly appreciated, as the more volunteers we have the easier it is for everyone to enjoy our Fair Day.

Upcoming P&F meeting in the first week of Term 4

The next P&F meeting is on Wed 16 October and will be attended by Cameron Golding, Olivia Stephens and Cam Berry who will talk to us about the new K-2 area and also a proposed Bike Track. All parents are invited to attend.

I hope that everyone recharges their batteries over the holiday break and come back ready for a big Term 4 and the Dominic College Community Fair!
