School and Community Partnerships

Dominic College is always looking for ways to enhance student learning, partnering with local businesses and community organisations. Partnerships provide access to experiences, support and resources not available within the school. We seek partners who are committed to common purposes and goals.

Our K-2 Development project has created a wonderful opportunity for our students studying the Introduction to Construction (VET) Course with Mr Rocco Mangione. Cordwell Built are our contracted builders for the K-2 Precinct Development and Scott Cordwell has agreed to give our students the chance to complete a two-week work placement on the building site to give students authentic experiences in the building industry.

The first student to take up this opportunity is Year 10 student, Xavier Combs. Xavier is on placement with Cordwell Built this week and next week. He starts at 7.30am and finishes at 3.30pm each day. Xavier has been working on applying cladding to the exterior of the second building being erected. He has been inducted in using power tools such as nail guns and drop saws. Xavier is really enjoying this experience and will be able to take the skills he has developed back into the classroom as he completes his course this year. This experience will be a great addition to his Resume and will show future employers his enthusiasm for a career in the building industry.

Huge thanks to Cordwell Built for giving our students this opportunity. We look forward to highlighting the experience of more students in coming weeks, as they also take up this opportunity
