Theatresports at Dominic College

Theatresports is a form of improvisational theatre, which uses the format of a competition for dramatic effect.

Opposing teams can perform scenes based on audience suggestions, with ratings by the audience or by a panel of judges. The teams are placed in a scenario where they would need to improvise to be able to win the game and to be able to move on to the next game.

At Dominic College on Thursday and Friday of the last week of Term 2, Theatresports took place in the Oratory Space.

The famous John X was our celebrity judge for the Year 9/10 Theatresports on Thursday afternoon, and he even gave us a few lines from The Lion King!

Friday's competition was for Years 3-6 in the morning and Years 7-8 in the afternoon. Mr Andrew Casey, old scholar and React Drama Principal, was the special guest judge for the Years 7-8 group. Mr O’Brien thoroughly enjoyed presenting his trophies, including the famous rubber chicken, to the winning teams. Both Bosco teams triumphed this year.

Theatresports allows students of all years, from experienced to non-experienced to play games that include the skill to be able to improvise on the spot and those who are able to apply this skill to the game wins and moves on to the next comedy scenario.

Theatresports is a great opportunity to gain confidence within yourself and to have a good laugh with your friends as well as to have a lot of fun and a great way to finish off Term 2.

Students of all Houses are thrilled to participate and most students would consider it as a highlight of the term.
