Year 6 Say It Loud! performance

This week our Year 6 students premiered their production of Say it Loud!, featuring two one-act plays, devised, written and performed by themselves. On Monday they performed two shows to full houses and their work was well-received by the Dominic community.

Over the course of 16 weeks Year 6 Moulton and Year 6 Cunningham have been exploring documentary drama and have researched, developed, written and produced the two scripts that comprise Say it Loud. Their aim was to share with an audience an issue that directly affects their age group. The question they were asked was 'what would you say if you knew everyone was listening?

Year 6M's answer to that question was Sticks and Stones – a play about bullying and how often the people who want to help don't know the best way to help. They performed their play with energy and enthusiasm and shared a powerful message asking their audience to 'say no to bullying' and to 'speak up' when it is going on.

Year 6C created What you Said which is a powerful look at how the words we say to each other have the potential and power to alter someone's dream's and ambitions. The class split the stage in two and showed us the story of one girl on two very different journeys, one where everyone supports her and encourages her and the other where they do not. They left their audience wondering how they might have changed someone's journey simply by the words they use.

Both classes put in a tremendous effort and we congratulate them on a wonderful performance. Well done Year 6!
