Book Week 2019 from 19 August

The Children’s Book Council of Australia theme for Book Week 2019 is: ‘Reading is my Secret Power.’

Book Week runs from 19-23 August and there will be activities throughout the week in K-6 classrooms and the library. We will be having a Book Week Dress Up Day on Wednesday 21 August 2019.

Students are encouraged to come dressed as a book character from their favourite: Chapter book, Picture book or Informational book

We will be holding a House competition for the most creative costume. We don’t want you to feel you have to spend any money and we encourage involving your child in designing and making their costume using items from home.

We would ask you to stay completely away from much loved “onesies”.

We encourage your child to bring in the book their costume is inspired by so they can share these during the day. Your child needs to prepare something short to say about their particular character as they may be lucky to be asked to share this with everyone during the Book parade in the Book Week Assembly.

We will be holding the Book Week Assembly, which will feature the Book Parade involving students parading in their costumes with their books, in the Savio Centre starting at 9.20am. Ms Moulton will again be the MC and you are encouraged to attend to see the amazing costumes and share in the excitement of Book Week.

We look forward to celebrating this special week together and encourage you to look at the website https://cbca.org.au/shortlist-2019 for the books that have been shortlisted for awards this year!

Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any queries.
