Year 5 Camp at Far South

What a wonderful camp we had at Far South last week!

Hastings Caves and the Thermal Pool were awesome. Star gazing around the campfire was amazing, and of course toasted marshmallows are always a favourite! We shared stories together and Fr Damien delighted us all with his campfire activities making rain sounds and acting out a mosquito scenario.

Our camp theme was ‘Let Your Light Shine’, local residents could be forgiven for thinking that a UFO had landed at Far South as every students light was definitely shining brightly during our three days!

We soaked up beautiful scenery during our bushwalk, learned about plants and fungi along the way, marvelled at the peace and beauty of nature around us and had a fantastic time at the beach afterwards. We were blessed with glorious weather, great experiences, lots of fun and laughs at our ‘Red Faces’ evening and a beautiful Mass on our last morning lead by Fr Damien.

Camp highlights were going to the beach, playing in the water and beach games. Everyone had a really great time with their friends! Fletcher Gaetani

During camp, one highlight was going to Hastings Caves. There were so many stalactites and stalagmites - they were awesome! Everyone enjoyed the cave.

My friends and I really enjoyed camp and spending time together. We loved swimming in the Thermal Springs with each other and we hope that 2020’s Year 5s are going to have a great time also.

My favourite experience on camp was when we went to Roaring Beach. I loved going in the water. Everyone got so wet. We had to go for a run to dry off before we went back to camp on the bus. We really enjoyed our time on camp.
