Skateboard art

In Term 2, students in Year 8 have been working on their Design and Composition unit, which is more commonly known as the skateboard unit!

It’s a slow and steady process which involves researching a number of modern and contemporary artists in the area of painting, street art and design.

Then taking the skateboard shape as the starting point, to create their own original design. Then it is onto the serious business of sanding and priming the surface, in readiness to apply the design.

There are some fantastic boards coming up, but I would like to make special mention of Corey Cleaver’s. Corey came up with an idea of burning a linear design onto the surface and with Dad’s permission, they worked on this together. It looks great!
