The Departure - a Rite Journey Rite of Passage

On Thursday 19 May, Year 9 students took part in The Departure, as part of the Rite Journey through the Empower Program.

The Departure was all about saying thanks and showing our gratitude towards our parents for everything they have done for us throughout our lives.

During the past few weeks, Empower classes had been working on writing these letters to read out on the night. Many tears and smiles were shared from many people!

The sessions started by our families bringing in 3 items from our childhood, this could include baby toys, photos and memories that meant a lot to us as young children. Once the items were explained and spoken about it was time to say our thanks.

The event was very important and well attended. Many sessions were put on for us throughout the night.

On behalf of Year 9, we would like to say a massive thank you and well done to the students and families who attended and the teachers for setting it up and making it an enjoyable event to take part in.

Also a massive thank you to the Empower teachers for staying behind and guiding the students through this journey.
