Year 2 history museum

Year 2 students are completing a History unit called The Past in the Present.

After looking at our school history last term, Year 2 have focussed on technology and how things have changed over time. Students have brought in items from home belonging to parents, grandparents and even great grandparents. We explored how changing technology makes things easier for us now.

For example, Joel brought in a meat safe and explained how in the past meat was kept inside it and tied to a tree so mice and other animals didn’t get to the food. Nowadays we have refrigerators to keep our food safe. We looked at various ways we communicated and loved looking at the old telephones, radios, walkmans and record players.

Before, computers and word processors there were very complicated engineering objects called typewriters!
