Last weekend, 36 students from Years 8-10 attended a retreat in the Savio Hub. This was an opportunity for Year 8s (soon to be Year 9s) to join the group and for some outgoing Year 10s to pass on their experiences and wisdom from their time with Salesian Youth of Dominic College. On Wednesday 26 October the College held a very special assembly to mark a significant anniversary in the life of Dominic College. Next month, in November it will be 70 years since our first Salesian brothers and priests came here to Glenorchy and established a home and school to educate children and young people. TCEC Awards to Dominic personalities

During Catholic Education Week, the Tasmanian Catholic Education Commission (TCEC) recognises people who have given significant and dedicated service to Catholic Education in Tasmania. We would like to congratulate the Chair of our College Council and former Dominic Principal, Fr Bernie Graham SDB who last night received the highest and most prestigious TCEC award for Exemplary Contribution to Catholic Education. We are also delighted that our College Librarian Mrs Christine Donnelly received the highly valued TCEC award for Outstanding Service as an Employee within Catholic Education.

Feast day - what an exhilirating day!

This week we have enjoyed the festivities of our Feast Day honouring our Dominican Patron Saints – St Dominic Guzman and St Catherine of Siena. It was a great day of prayer, fun and friendship for the whole community. We were grateful to warmly welcome back our former College Rector, Fr Frank Bertagnolli SDB to preside at our mass and to welcome our Dominican Sisters - Sr Pam Davis OP and Sr Mary Rickards OP to join us.​ The day opened with art activities in K-2 - we are in the lead up to our great Creative Arts festival in September, and students across the College are embracing their creative juices! The day closed with after-lunch buddy games for our K-6 students. In between we had it all!
